Bodegas San Isidro

This visit was some time ago .... however, it´s worth commenting and sharing.  Bodegas San Isidro is a winery that was founded in 1931 and it´s a cooperative where local producers bring their grapes, mostly the Monastrel, legacy and hallmark of the region of Murcia.

Unlike other tours we have done wineries in Murcia- such as the Bodegas Viña Elena when Glenda visited us or Casa de la Ermita where we went with Fonse, this time we were in full harvest.
On this visit instead of imagining what they told us about the process we could see it live! From when the trucks arrive full grapes and are weighed to the part where they determine it´s quality, through the selection, stripping and even fermentation. And of course, the tasting! This time even the kiddos tasted some grape mosto and judging by their faces someone (you´ll clearly know who) didm t like it  that much. Is it because there´s no booze in it… ?

The cellar is impressive. The shed where they have the barrels is beautiful and you could surely do some good events in there. We also went to  the sector where we make their olive oil - unlike with the wine, we had to imagine it because it wash´t time to produce it, lol.
The kiddos were delighted and the guide was always aware of them, involving them from the beginning  and making them feel that they were the center of everything! Actually a very nice day, something to break out of the routine and to keep discovering Jumilla!

Burger love

Mountain Burger @ SteakBurger-Madrid

Let's face it, this is a burger family. Ever since I can remember, for example my honeymoon,  burgers has been a part of our menu. I ate that super burger at Rutherford Grill, in Napa Valley. I salivate when I remember that while being in a wine tasting at Robert Mondavi, the guide told us that a cheese burger would pair excellently well with the wine we were tasting and it did ... if you have not done it yet, I highly recommend it!

Since then, many burgers have passed through our palate and whenever we visit a city we seek good burger place. During our last trip to Florida we had two that could not be more different but both equally great. One was in Five Guys and the other at a place called Shula Burger in Delray Beach. (In the latter, despite there were several options on the menu, the three times I went I ate the same one .... ) Mine was called Wine Country and let me tell you it is spectacular, goat cheese, dried tomatoes and arugula in balsamic vinegar yummmm!

EuroBurger @ Araxi-Caracas, Venezuela

In Caracas, I went to Araxi & Gril Gourmet Burger, as its slogan states, the first burgers with class in Venezuela. Hence, apart from the Euro Burger that I ate, I recommend the  tostotón strips with garlic, parsley and olive oil! A great alternative to traditional french fries that accompany burgers ... My mom ate the lamb burger, for her the best!!

Mountain Burger@ SteakBurger, Madrid
So I get to where I want to be today. A pleasant discovery in the streets of Madrid. The place is called The House of SteakBurger and  it is amazing. It reminds me of Soho with different tables and chairs that combine strategically. The walls with bricks exposed in some parts that give it a vintage touch and a super cool dish presentation with buckets for the french¡h fries and, depending on what you order, even wire baskets. I ordered a very similar burger to the one I had at Shula (I must confess that I am now a fan of these type of burgers ...) it´s called Mountain Burger, it has the much anticipated goat  cheese and arugula but they added onion confit.. it´s out of this world! You can choose the type of meat and bread, and I had ox and the usual burger bread, with it, a glass of red wine to keep the habit.

Cumple Cheli ´s Bday

This year we celebrated Cheli´s birthday in style thanks to Carola, who as soon as she found out that we would be in Florida, said she would take care of the organization. The celebration took place at her house in Wellington, which needless to say it's a beauty. The kiddos played in the pool until they were all wrinkly and even petted one of the ponies that have in the house (they are horse fans and are fortunate to have them around to enjoy) While the kiddos were entertained, we sipped champagne in a hut surrounded by beautiful plants, while we waited for the chef (yes they have one) to prepare the grill! We sang happy bday with a zulu cake that Fonse baked (important- I must ask her for the recipe to post it in Kozinandito ) and blew flare up candles  that I got for Cheli, all in a  baseball party theme, one of the sports that Cheli loves.

I hope you turn many more! With good health and that we always celebrate it together!

Key West for the day

He ido muchas veces a Florida y nunca había estado en Key West; ¡qué descubrimiento mas grato!

I´ve been to Florida many times but I had never been to Key West, what pleasant discovery! It doen´t seem that you are in Florida. The streets full of cafes, bars and small shops and the colonial architecture, just lovely! Needless to say, I would have loved to spend the night there but, believe it or not, there was not a spare room (even the most expensive ones lol) So if you decide to visit, plan ahead of time - I planned from one day to the other and those were the consequences.

The journey began very early (we had to drive from Delray Beach to Key West- no more and no less) about four hours by car ... Since we knew we would go through Coral Gables took the opportunity to try the Venezuelan place someone recommended us- European Corner  (I know, the name wouldn´t  stick even with glue but the tequeños and the cachitos de jamón were super) Now with a full belly and a happy heart, we were ready to drive the rest of miles ahead of us. The journey has impressive views, with the sea on both sides of the road and really incredible bridges.

Once in situ, it was time to walk ... the heat was not normal and the kiddos complained. However, since they are great traveling companions,, they walked beside us through the start of the U.S. 1, until we reached the southernmost point of the United States. There we drank some delicious slush and I had a coconut water; it had been sooooooo long since I had one! A little more refreshed, we walked back looking for places to eat a little something and were delighted by the picturesque sites of the place.

To keep it simple (I must confess that I would have sat in any of the bars and have a few mojitos) we decided to eat at Hard Rock Café. There they have food for all tastes and enough space indoors to be cool.... Soon after there wasn´t  time for much more. My must have cup of coffee to be a good co-pilot back home and ready for four hours back home.
