diy- stirrers / removedores

I am a fan of DIY.  For those who know me and have been in my house, you know that every time I have a party, I try to have small details that make the event a special one and stamp it with the "DetodounLolo" touch that characterizes me. I was looking for ideas on Pinterest to give our New Year's party a touch of glamor (well deserved I must say) and came across these stirrers  to decorate drinks and it hit me! I could make them and it would be a cool project to do with my kiddos (which are fan of this type of activities) It is a very simple project with materials that are available in any crafts store. So let´s get to work.

celebrating christmas

This year, to celebrate Christmas, we decided to change the tone a bit and get together at lunchtime instead of in the evening. Although at first I didn´t quite love the idea, I must say that in the end, it was wonderful. The weather agreed with the idea too and gave us a radiant, sunny and "warm" day (considering the time of the year.) So we were able to enjoy the terrace and dine outdoors, which is uncommon in winter days. We ate the best of both worlds, a piqueo typical here in Spain during the Holidays and a pernil Caracas´style-slow roasted pork- (typical for Christmas) that was scrumptious. It was so yummy that I didn´t even had time to take pictures, lol. For those interested in the recipe, this is the link.

In my house terrace is synonym to dining table and of Lolo (ie me!) to get to work and decorate and set the table (the house was already decorated) in full swing! Here are some of ideas for my Christmas table, simple but they give it a touch of love in a special day.

1.- Mantelería/linen: ZARA Home
2.- Plato de fondo ó bajo platos en blanco/Base plates in white:IKEA
3.- Vajilla/Tableware: Raynaud Limoges "Cristobal"

For the kiddos I put a candy cane in the napkin ring and glasses with Christmas themes. I´ve been collecting the pine cones from the ground  since I came to Murcia and they are a must in my house during the Holidays; I have them all over the house!! They are also ideal as place settings. I made these with Sverige Script (Dafont.com) my new fetish font !!

Since I couldn´t find red envelopes to celebrate the Chinese New Year, I decided to make my own. It is also a good opportunity to do crafts with my kiddos. I must confess that I tried to attach the pdf. but I just did not know how ... So I had no other choice but to include the template as an image and what you have to do is print it in a A4 size page and you´re ready to go ….

Mi moto de este año: Do all things with love

Who would have told me that moving to  Murcia would be synonymous to hosting NYE, lol. until then, it happened elsewhere, never in my house. But I must confess that I love it. Thinking of what I´ll be cooking, decorating the house and even the DIY party favours.

This year Jose (one of Paco´s cousins) Camilo her hubby and Julia their child came home. As a  "novelty " we moved the living room sofa so we could have a dance floor! Frank and I even stayed up the night before making the playlist lol. Another super cool addition was that this year we received the New Year via Facetime with Frank´s brothers and with Sabi and Fonse in Miami!  This 3.0. world is just great! After the clock struck 12 and we had the grapes Pedro came and one thing let to another and when I saw the clock it was 6:00 am al ready! It had been a while since I stayed up till dawn. To sum it up, 2014 started on the right track, wrapped up by our loved ones and in good company, even if it was digitally.

It goes without saying that I wish you all, the best of the world this year, and I hope that all your  proposes come true. My moto this year : Has toads las cosas con amor.
