fondo de armario: must haves

Debo confesar que la primera vez que oí el termino Fondo de Armario me quedé en blanco. Hoy, unos años más tarde, finalmente lo tengo claro. El Fondo de Armario lo constituyen el conjunto de prendas básicas y versátiles, que más favorezcan nuestro estilo y que sobreviven a las tendencias. Hay quienes piensan que no existe un fondo de armario único sino más bien un conjunto de prendas de vestir que nos sientan bien y que reflejan nuestro estilo. Ojo, subrayo lo de la tendencia. Es muy importante no caer el ellas a la hora de configurar el nuestro. No todas las modas nos quedan bien según nuestro tipo de cuerpo, ni todas nos gustan... Aun y así, estos son los musts haves de un buen fondo de armario.

I must confess that the first time I heard the term fondo de armario (wardrobe) my mind went blank. Today, years later, I´m finally clear. A wardrobe consists of a group of basic and versatile garments, that flatter our style and that survive trends. Some people think that there is no preset wardrobe but rather a set of cloths that make us feel good and reflect our style. BTW, I underline trend because it is very important not to fall in them when it putting together. Not all fads are becoming for our body type or are of our linking... Nonetheless, these are the must haves of a good wardrobe.

Los must haves

1 Jeans:

También conocido como pantalón vaquero, de mezclilla o tejano es un must have en nuestro armario. Es cómodo, versátil, práctico e idóneo para muchas ocasiones. Hay un sin fin de modelos así que independientemente del tipo de cuerpo seguro conseguiremos uno que nos siente bien y que realce nuestra figura.

Also known as denim it is a must have in your wardrobe. It's comfortable, versatile, practical and suitable for many occasions. There are endless shapes so regardless of your type body, there´s sure to be one that feels good and enhances our figure.  

2 Camisa de vestir- Dress Shirt:
Dicen que o somos de ellas o sencillamente no. Soy de las segundas. Nunca han sido de mi gusto aunque debo reconocer que una buena camisa viste y mucho. Tener una blanca nos sacará de apuros. Si eres de las que las aman, te animo a atrévete con otros colores.

They say that you either love them or not. I am of the latter. They have never been to my taste; although I must admit that a good shirt dresses quite a lot. Owning a white shirt will save us a lot of trouble. If you are the type who love them, I encourage you to dare with other colors. 

3 Salones negros- Black Pumps:

Otra palabras que me llam´ la atención. Para mi son zapatos pero aquí los llaman salones.  Los negros son imprescindibles, si son de tacón alto mejor. Aunque a mi me gustan mas las sandalias (claro en Caracas no hay invierno) Si no son de tacones, una lindas zapatillas (bailarinas) también son una buena opción y precisamente para esos días invernales, unas buenas botas son definitivamente un must.

Another word that caught my attention. For me (salones) are shoes but it´s what they call them here. Black ones are essential, high heeled even better. Although I prefer sandals (there´s no weather issue in Caracas) If you are not a heels person, a pair of cute flats are also a good option and for those winter days, a pair of good boots are definitely a must. 

4 Bolso(s)- Bag(s):
Mi pasión! En este tema, para mi menos nos es más, los quiero TODOS! No soy de sólo un bolso, aunque la norma del "fondo de armario" dicta que apuestes por uno multitasking... pues como que no. Un modelito que no debe faltar, es el clutch, para eventos mas formales en los que un bolso grande definitivamente no queda nada bien.

My passion! In this issue, for me less isn´t more, I want them ALL! I am not a one bag lady, but  "wardrobe" standards  dictates that bet by one because as multitasking ... no. An outfit that should not miss is the clutch, for more formal events where a large bag definitely is not any good. 

5 Blazer:


También conocida como americana, le aporta a tu look un toque sofisticado. Desde que dejé de trabajar no pasaba por mi mente tener una pero...visto lo visto me sale shopping de una americana, jejeje. Esta prenda añade a cualquier look, bien sea de shorts o más formal acompañando un vestido un toque chic.

Also known as Americana, gives your look a sophisticated touch. Since I stopped working it didn´t cross my mind to have one but ... apparently I have to go shopping for one, lol. This garment adds any look, whether it´s shorts or accompanying a more formal dress, a chic touch. 

6 Vestido negro- The Little Black Dress:

Este no estaba en el video pero es, al menos para mi, un must. Aquí hay que elegir el que mejor complemente nuestra figura y nos haga sentir sexy!


This item was not in the video but it is, at least for me, a must. Here you have to choose the one that best complements your figure and make you feel sexy! 

Así que a revisar nuestros armarios yo, por lo pronto me voy de shopping porque de 6 must haves sólo tengo 2!!!

So let´s check our closets, in my case it´s strait to the mall. Of the 6 must haves I only have 2 !!!
